Saddle Temper Tantrum
This post sponsored by the one giant “Fail Friday” that has been my February. Onto March! In like a lion! Roar the suck away!
Also, yesterday I had a temper tantrum. Legit foot stomping, pissy, complaining, angry emails sending temper tantrum… over my saddle. Sigh.
Through the suck this month, I was looking forward to several things: cross country schooling (moved to March, but pony should be better by then so it’s all good), equestrian social media award winners (didn’t make top 3, but life goes on) and my beautiful saddle arriving.
Guess who’s saddle is not arriving until mid-March 🙁
I whined. I pouted. I sent angry emails. Logically, I know there’s nothing to be done to magically make my saddle get here faster… but damnit I wanted a consolation prize. I wanted at least the same treatment I could have gotten if I chose to buy from a different online retailed, but I was denied.
So I had a little temper tantrum at my desk, and then I made myself better by planning a dream vacation the rest of the afternoon. Sigh, whatever it takes to make it through the day.
Pissyness aside, I do feel like the customer service I’ve gotten after placing my order has not been acceptable. That’s irrelevant though, because I’m stuck and I can’t do anything but wait two to three more weeks.
Which I will be doing while eating chocolate, and hoping March is much more fun than February has been.

Ugh that’s really unfortunate 🙁 Like I know with Custom Saddlery you get a temporary saddle while they get yours to you! (Of course it takes forever to get a custom saddle, but still!). My friend ordered a custom saddlery and the one she was using was making her horse buck, so they even gave her a different temp saddle to use. Of course, you have to go through a local representative so I guess it’s a little different 🙁 But I think that’s still a good business model if it’s going to be a significant wait!
Yeah… sigh. The other saddlery that sells it and has a good rep sends a demo saddle while you wait the 6-8 weeks for custom flaps. Captain hindsight!
This sucks. Big time. And I am so sorry that the customer service is being sucky. *hugs*
Oh, I’m sorry! Disappointment is one thing, but bad customer service on top of disappointment is the pits. I hope the saddle turns up ASAP and is all that you hope.
Ugh what a pain! When you order something so significant and a big financial purchase, you expect to be treated like a queen!
Sorry it hasn’t been a great experience and I hope that they make it up to you in some way!
Total suckiness. So sorry your pretty new saddle isn’t here yet! I always get worked up about things when they are late too. Glad you let them have a piece of your mind service wise!
I had a similar temper tantrum after a saddle fitting mess. I felt like nothing was going to fit! Husband got to deal with sobbing and all sorts of over the top drama. Not my best moment.
Of course a week later I found the perfect saddle only to take a spill while jumping and now I get to watch it sit on the rack while I recover from a concussion :-/
Oh dear D: I’ll try to convince the saddle gods to do some magic…!
(it wasn’t Dover, was it…?)
LOL no! Y’all are safe 😉
Sad.
Wow. You have had a trying month, Lauren. I so hope March brings better luck your way. Start looking for rainbows, clover, and a leprechaun. Maybe a little Luck O’the Irish will do the trick. :0)
… or a bunch of Irish beer. That may help too! 😀
I concur that February sucketh. And January wasn’t much better… 🙁
Oh no!!!! That is terribleness. I am in the market for a new saddle myself. It is NOT an easy task and it is definitely a I WANT IT NOWWWWW type of thing 🙂
Sounds like you found the straw that broke the camels back! Unless you have an unlimited budget and patience, finding a new saddle is fraught with frustration. I hope once it arrives happy days will be here again! ;D
Ugh I wish I could send you a bunch of chocolate and a big bottle of wine 🙁 That stinks on the saddle, I hate being stuck and having to wait. I see nothing wrong with temper tantrums from time to time.
This month has been one of total suckery! Sorry about your saddle probs…I was fitted almost two months ago and am still waiting on WHAT saddle I need. Sigh.
You can always blast the company on CoTH, that always makes for a good time.
That’s how I ordered the saddle in the first place… someone reached out to me on COTH.
Urgh major suckiness 🙁
Wow, that is really crappy about the saddle and the customer service. 🙁 I hope the middle of March hurries up and gets here bringing your saddle (and us some nice weather!) with it!
I’m sorry about your saddle! That’s rough. Hopefully March is a better month for you.
