My Job at the Cult – The Departure

My Job at the Cult – The Departure

You’re probably going to be shocked, but I was job hunting for the last 3 months of my 6 month stint at my job at the cult.  I took any interview I could get (including some really awful positions) to try and get out of there, and finally something worked out.  It wasn’t even a good position, but it was most likely not in a cult.  At the time, that was enough for me. Before I had another job offer, I…

All the Pretty Ponies

All the Pretty Ponies

Amy gave me very good advice pre-Simon getting sick.  She said to ride even if I didn’t feel like it, because it would probably make me feel better.  I took it to heart, because honestly I don’t feel like riding.  Things I feel like doing instead of riding include… Eating froyo Watching reality TV Pretending to clean my house But alas, my trainer and friends are nice enough to offer me rides and I believe that if you say “No” to…

Product Review – Horze Lyon Synthetic Leather Gloves

Product Review – Horze Lyon Synthetic Leather Gloves

Horze recently asked me to review some products, which made me super happy because I’m still on a indefinite spending freeze and there have been no new shiny things to play with.  Thanks Horze!  That being said, these are all still my opinions on the products – first up, riding gloves! Traditionally, I’m not a glove person.  Give me the option and I will go gloveless for schooling and show.  I traditionally hate how bulky gloves make my hands feel, but…

My Love / Hate Relationship With Art

My Love / Hate Relationship With Art

In my Happy Things in my home post, I showed a picture of my favorite piece of artwork ever – the scratch board lion.  A lot of you left nice comments about my lion and mentioned how I should do art again.  I probably should do more art, but I very much have a love/hate relationship with art these days. Growing up, art was my passion long before I became interested in creative writing.  For whatever reason, I was slightly…

Grateful & Stressing

Grateful & Stressing

We are four days past “Simon tries to die 2014” and things are pretty much back to normal.  He ate small amounts of grain and hay over the weekend, and the goal today is to get him back to his normal eating schedule.  Since we dumped 30 liters of fluids in him, all his vitals stabilized and he kept looking better and better. I’m very thankful my horse is alive.  I don’t claim to have “seen everything” with horses, but…

Super quick update

Super quick update

Catheter is out. His only blood level that was abnormal Friday was Calcium, so they gave him Calcium with his last fluids. He is peeing so much. It’s comical. He has never been this hydrated in his entire life. We were given the clear to feed him some watery mushy grain and green grass. This pleases him, because we have been abusing him for the past two days. Hungry horse is hungry. They still don’t know what caused all of…

The Things That Try Us

The Things That Try Us

This is a new one for me.  I’m writing a blog post at midnight in the lounge at my barn.  By the time y’all are reading this it will be morning and hopefully everything will be mostly right as rain again.  Until then, let me write a little bit about my evening and how I came to be laying on the barn couch at midnight with my laptop.  This is going to be a long one with  few pictures, just…

Equestrian Blogs You Should Be Reading If You Aren’t Part II

Equestrian Blogs You Should Be Reading If You Aren’t Part II

It’s been well over a year since my first SMTT pseudo-blogging awards post, and with so many new blogs sprouting up I figured it was time for an update.  Some of these may be new to you, and some aren’t… but here’s my list of favorites circa 2014.  If I haven’t listed you, it doesn’t mean I hate or don’t read your blog.  I always keep a list of favorites in my side bar and I read and (try to)…
