LOPE Benefit Show II

LOPE Benefit Show II

When we last left off, I had completed the hunter derby successfully but hadn’t yet fallen off.  When do I bust my bum?  Stay tuned! After the hunter derby we had what was supposed to be a brief break before the jumpers start, but it ended up being much longer.  The 2’0″ jumper division had a decent amount of riders, and they decided to let people take a break before their jump off… which made things take a lot longer….

LOPE Benefit Show I

LOPE Benefit Show I

There is too much to tell about my fun day at the LOPE Benefit show!  Instead of writing a novel, I’ll break it up into chunks.  For those of you who like the cliff notes, here they are: I was ridiculously over dressed and wore a shadbelly Had some of my personal best riding over fences (in my opinion) NECK RIBBONS I fell off! Now, the nitty gritty details! 7:45am was the first posted ride time for our hunter/jumper gals…

A Year of Pascale

A Year of Pascale

Last year I had puppy fever in the worst way.  I needed another dog like a whole in my head… but I needed a puppy.  We casually looked at a few for adoption, but decided it wasn’t a great time.  I tried to put my puppy fever in a box and close it, but then my trainer put this photo on facebook. I melted. Even though I wanted this puppy, I knew I didn’t need a puppy so I told my…

Product Review – Horze Nylon Halter & Lead

Product Review – Horze Nylon Halter & Lead

I think a staple in every horse owner’s tack trunk is a good nylon halter.  They’re durable, easy to clean and a good one will last forever.  As nylon halters go, I look for something that fits well, is durable and can adjust to my horse’s face.  This padded Nylon halter from Horze does all of these things! Let’s be honest – this is a nylon halter.  It’s not reinventing the wheel or changing the course the universe – it’s…

What You Would Say on Your Blog! – Part II

What You Would Say on Your Blog! – Part II

Here we go with round two of my anonymous “What would you say on your blog?” survey… Lots of people had talk about their trainers and training. It’s okay to have multiple trainers! No one person has all of the answers for you OR your horse. I love my trainer dearly, but she has shortcomings. Sometimes I want to talk about my desire to find a new trainer, but I cant… because my trainer reads my blog!!! Dear Trainer: I…

Pick Apart

Pick Apart

This is one of those posts that aren’t super exciting, but are written for me to have in the anthology that is Simon’s training.  At least there are pretty pictures for y’all? After about a week off from the September Austin monsoon, I was able to head to the barn Sunday morning to hack my lively horse.  Fresh Simon is never really a bad thing.  He’s not one to be naughty and buck after time off, but lively Simon is…

The Truth About (Artistic) Cats & Dogs

The Truth About (Artistic) Cats & Dogs

With all the rain we’ve been getting lately, I planned a decidedly un-horsey Saturday while my barn dried out from the monsoon.  Most of the day was spent with me cleaning my house like a crazy person.  If you’re a South Park fan, do you remember that episode where Butters’ mom finds out his dad is gay, and goes on a psychotic cleaning spree around the house?  “Cleeeeean!  Clean.  Everything must be cleeeeeeeeean.”  That was pretty much me, only less…

Shake It Up/Off

Shake It Up/Off

You will perhaps notice a new look about the blog.  I’m not sure I’m 100% married to it yet, but the longer I looked at my last design the more meh I felt about it.  Too much pastel, even for me.  Anyway, I’d like to hear if there are any issues/concerns with the new layout.  I’m happy with most things, but may change a font here or there unless there are major complaints. Moving on!  I’ve been pretty quiet about…
