Travel Tuesday – New York City
Once upon a time I used to travel a lot and lug my giant camera everywhere. Now I am poor with a travel money eating pony. Ah, the choices we make.
Soon I will travel again, but lately I’ve just been missing it. Combine that with the fact that I don’t often take a look back at the millions of photos I take, and I present to you “Travel Tuesday”.
I didn’t actually get to NYC until my early 20’s. My family tended to travel more south, and it was never high on our list. I’ve still only been twice, but these are the pictures from my first trip. Tim and I were dating then, and he had a work conference in the city to go to. So I flew up after the conference, and we spent a few days being total tourists.

Have you ever been to New York City?

Cool idea for a post! I am tempted to steal your post ideas! 😉 Although, that would require me actually trying to write something…lol
NYC is awesome – I’ve been 4 times. I live in Canada, but it is about an 8 hr drive and a short train ride away. I’m a country girl at heart, but love that big city.
Steal away 🙂 Sharing is caring haha
🙂
Was just there a few weeks ago for a Sara Bareilles concert at Madison Square Garden, and my first trip in was to stalk the shit out of Stana Katic because I am a crazy fangirl. I love NYC to visit but wouldn’t ever want to live there.
I agree . Fun to visit, but not for me to live in!
When I went to college in NJ we’d go into the city for dinner or a show when we could. I love it to visit, but I wouldn’t like living in such a big city. I haven’t been in years, it’s time for another visit.
Wait! You love taxidermy? I’ll just leave this here … http://thebloggess.com/?s=taxidermy (some offensive language and extreme hilarity included)
Oh funny!!! Some of those are so creepy.
I’ve been to NYC half a dozen times at least and it is most definitely not my cup of tea. I get a headache the moment I set foot in the city. However, I love the Korean town and could spend days there (only because it’s the closest I can get to Korea – ah I miss that place).
I would love to go to Korea! One of the great things about New York is all its international culture.
I got to live with my aunt and uncle in NYC for the entire summer when I was 14 years old. I essentially got Bus/Metro money and would wander and wander. I lived in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Central Park. I took myself to old Churches (like St Patricks) as it was then I was battling my ideas of religion and also FAO Schwarz because who doesn’t want to go to the world’s biggest toy store.
Oh, what a cool experience! I would also like to live in those 3 places.
nyc is fun thanks for sharing! i really haven’t ever spent more than an occasional afternoon there (it’s about a 3hr bus ride from me), but have spent more time in brooklyn tho – also a fun place! wouldn’t want to live there tho…
I grew up in NJ about 45 mins outside NYC, so I went into ‘the city’ a bunch. Definitely not my thing, but fun to visit for a day to go to museums, restaurants, or a show.
I love how the stuffed horses at FAO Schwartz look like they’re having a good gossip session. 🙂
I’ve only been to NYC three times, despite living only a few hours’ drive away. I am most emphatically Not a City Mouse. Fiance and I have been talking about going for a weekend, but mostly I’d want to see museums.
I’m kinda a city mouse, but not that city! I’m more of a moderate city mouse?
Both of my sisters live in NYC so it makes for a convenient place to visit the entire fam (my parents drive in from OH) but we haven’t been there in over a year or so. It’s interesting but not someplace I’d want to settle down! Too busy (and that’s coming from a Bay area girl)!
So busy! And nobody there wears colored clothing? At least the Bay Area is colorful and pretty 🙂
I went to NY when my friend auditioned for Jeopardy…I have to say it was kind of a lunch bag let down for me because I had always imagined it this amazing place of high fashion and nightlife. That being said, I would go back in a heart beat!
My parents never took me anywhere…all my travelling happened after highschool when I was on the move!
My parents took me on nice tropical vacations, and we had a beach house. So in that aspect, I was really lucky but all the major traveling I’ve done without them.
It’s a dream of mine to go to New York and see a show on Broadway. 😀 I’d love to do all the touristy stuff too.
Thanks for sharing your pictures!
I didn’t see a Broadway show either time, and I want to go back and do so!
My sister used to live in NYC and now live just outside of it. I haven’t been recently but used to go visit her regularly. Ooooh the shopping!!
Soooooo much shopping. I enjoyed living close to Boston for the shopping aspect as well.
Love NYC! I don’t get to go as much as I would like to though… I only live 30 minutes from the city. My husband works in downtown Manhattan and goes daily, so he normally isn’t into going and touring around on his days off…
NYC has never really interested me, but I would like to visit New York State sometime.
I have been once to NYC, Ellis Island & seeing Wicked were my highlights. Visiting an outlet village (can’t remember which one now) was a serious lowlight. Seeing the prices of the stuff on mega-sale costing the same as Kika’s livery was uber depressing.
Central park was also pretty cool, we got a gorgeous crisp day in November to visit; it was fab.
I love your photos as always & cannot wait to see all the other gems this fun feature will bring to our screens ♡
I was in NYC yesterday for a work meeting! I live fairly close and actually used to work there for a couple years after college when I worked for television. I commuted from NJ and it got tiring really fast. I’m not a city gal at all but a visit every once in a while is fun!
LOVE NYC! Been twice, would love to go back. The New Years Eve fireworks there are just incredible.
No but I wish!
