Travel Tuesday – Vienna

Travel Tuesday – Vienna

I think every horse person wants to go to Vienna.  I’ve been fortunate to get to go twice.  My first trip was with school, and I skipped out on a scheduled activity to have an afternoon to myself at the Spanish Riding School museum.  The second time I went with Tim, and was able to see the morning exercises. Unfortunately, we couldn’t book a stable tour like I had hoped… so that just means I need to go to Vienna…

Simon Saves the Ta Tas

Simon Saves the Ta Tas

When I first saw Jodi’s contest at Racing to Ride I thought, “That is super cool!  I can’t wait to see what other people do.”  I own nothing pink, and I don’t even really like the color pink.  In fact, I didn’t really wear pink until I graduated from college and used to claim to hate it strongly.  Then I learned that just because you wear pink, doesn’t mean you’re a waify girly girl… so I wear it when I feel like…

Soundtrack of the Ponies – Simon’s Songs

Soundtrack of the Ponies – Simon’s Songs

Loved this post idea from Sprinkler Bandits, because songs and horses somehow go together more with me & Simon than any of my other horses previously. Of course because I’m complicated, I can’t just pick one song for my horse. When I decided Simon was “the one”, I realized I felt pretty instantly comfortable with him despite his greenness.  I searched and searched for a show name, and probably would have chosen the title of this song, Somewhere Only We Know,…

Another Year with my Horse Husband

Another Year with my Horse Husband

Today I celebrate another year spent with my ‘horse husband’.  It’s four years of marriage for us (and almost 9 total) and we’ll celebrate our “fruit and flowers” anniversary this year. My husband is turning into a pro at funny anniversary gifts.  For the 2nd “Cotton” anniversary he got me a cotton t-shirt that said “It’s my 2nd anniversary and all I got was this t-shirt”, a cotton candy maker and a cotton saddle pad.  This year for “fruit and…

If Equestrians had Reality TV

If Equestrians had Reality TV

I love reality television.  It’s my guilty pleasure, and there are almost no limits to my reality TV love. Cooking shows?  Yes please.  I never get tired of listening to Gordon Ramsey yell at people. Hoarders?  Can you think of a better program to motivate you to clean your house?  If I watch more than 15 minutes of Hoarders, I inevitably start straightening and dusting. And yes, it even goes all the way down to Toddlers and Tiaras.  That show…

You’re Invited to a Horse Bloggers Weekend!

You’re Invited to a Horse Bloggers Weekend!

True story – I’ve had visions of trying to organize an equestrian bloggers conference one day.  Another true story – that’s a pretty big undertaking.  However, I was talking with my local blog buddy Jen from Wyvern Oaks about how cool it would be if we all get together, and then we got to brainstorming… You are invited to an equestrian bloggers weekend in Austin, Texas! Jen and I, and possibly the super cool $900 Facebook Pony (depending on the…

An Ethical Question Regarding Livestock

An Ethical Question Regarding Livestock

I’ve probably mentioned it on this blog at least once or twice, but my husband is vegan due to animal rights reasons.  He hasn’t always been vegan during our relationship, but for the past four years veganism has been a steady part of our household and life.  I think he’s in it for the long haul, and I support him in his choices. That being said, I’m not vegan. I’m also not planning on becoming vegan (though I’ll never say…

The Wonderful & Whacky Ponies on Netflix

The Wonderful & Whacky Ponies on Netflix

We cancelled our cable subscription several years ago, and have been relying on just Netflix and Hulu for TV.  It works out really well, because I don’t like to watch a ton of TV.  Cable is really expensive, and when you factor in high speed internet plus a premium cable package (for BBC America, obviously) my bill ended up being huge.  I’ve been cable free for over three years, and I really don’t miss it. Since I’ve watched every available…
