I’m So Excited

I’m So Excited

And I just can’t hide it.

Today, let’s talk about the Euro.  You all read the post where I went a little tack ho crazy and bought a smancy bridle from France since the Euro was low.  I have it in my hands as of today, and will give this glorious piece of leather its own post in the future (pray it fits the pony… it looks large).

So while I’m all like YAY CHEAP LESS EXPENSIVE BRIDLE, my best friend encouraged me to think bigger.  Had I seen the amazing Europe travel deals on Groupon and Living Social?

Why no, I had not.

See, husband and I had been planning on a early summer trip to San Diego/Southern CA.  That’s all fine and dandy, but we knew it wasn’t going to be cheap.  I wanted to go for about a week, and with plane tickets being expensive and a nice hotel running close to or past $200… well it’s not a free trip.  When I started investigating travel deals due to the low Euro, I realized it wasn’t going to be that much more expensive to just go to Europe this summer.

So I started plotting.

I love ponies, but the only thing I love more than ponies and pony showing is traveling.  We used to be big travelers, but budgetary caution has halted that for a few years.  However, husband and I started looking at options and his stockpile of American Airlines miles… and we’ve booked a trip!

We’ve both been fortunate to travel a lot through Europe both before and after we met, so we wanted to go somewhere new to us but also on the Euro to take advantage of the low exchange rate.  After a lot of googling, we decided on…

And finally hiking it back up to Helsinki so we can fly home! I’ll be missing a horse show I planned on, but like I said… international traveling pretty much trumps ponies.  It’s been over 7 years since I’ve legitimately traveled, and I’m so excited!

Do you have any fun trips planned for the summer or new places you’re dying to go?

  1. I don’t have any big travel planned because of budgeting/having a lot of animals to take care of, but we generally go to Florida to the beach in September, so that is something to look forward to. 🙂

  2. How cool! My euro trip straddled both this year and last year barely, no other big trips in the work for this year (just a bunch of tiny ones), but next year No Doubt.

  3. That’s awesome! Other than a trip to Seattle to see family, I am pretty much shoving all my discretionary funds at horse showing this summer… but I’m so glad you blog and I can live vicariously through you on this adventure! I know you will take lots of fabulous pictures 🙂

  4. The SO and I are trying to plan a horse pack trip out west somewhere late this summer. A 7-9 day trip. We’re still deciding on what program to go to though!

  5. Fun!! I can’t wait to hear and see pictures from some places a little bit more removed from the normal tourist path.

  6. what a wonderful plan – i hope you have so much fun!! i haven’t traveled internationally in a looooong time, but managed to do quite a bit of domestic travel, tho even that has slowed in recent years… only trip on the docket this year is to Nola for a conference…

  7. Oooh! That bridle looks so soft and lovely! Congrats for booking the vacation for “cheap”. Sounds like fun. My husband and I are heading to Puerto Rico in June.

  8. Ahh, super fun!! We’re headed to Corpus Christi in a couple weeks to relax on the beach, but our ‘big’ trip will be next year- we’re going to take a horseback riding tour of Iceland! Johnny thinks he’ll feel ‘safe’ on Icelandic horses because they’re not very big. LOLZ

  9. How awesome! I love to travel and just realized it’s been a few years since I had any big trips. This year will not work out, but I’m hoping next year we can plan something fun and far away.

Also, boo that you are not coming to San Diego now.

  10. WOW how exotic! What special and interesting destinations!! I’m already looking forward to your photos from the trip. =)
I’ve had the pleasure to travel quite a bit with my family when I was growing up, but my husband and I have been keeping our vacations to local cruises (out of CA) for the last few years.

  11. We’ll be in San Francisco in June to hang out with my college roomie/bestie and see Eddie Izzard, then we’ll be visiting my homestate of MI in July!

  12. Oh, wow. Just discovered your blog recently and been reading in silence, but now I just have to say – Welcome to Estonia! So If you want some local inside information, ask away 🙂

  13. So exciting!!! I haven’t been on a big trip in many years. Lots of smaller trips to the US, but Europe has eluded me lately! I can’t wait to see your pics and blog posts after you get back.

Travelling is so much harder for me these days, one of the only downfalls of having my horse at home.

  14. So fun! Have a great time. I am going to London in August and I’m really excited. Can’t wait to read your blog posts about your trip.

  15. ICELAND IN JUNE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will be riding fun little fuzzy Icelandic ponies!!!!!! I’m really excited about this if you can’t tell 😉 hahaha

  16. Sounds like you have an amazing trip planned. I went to Greece, France and Austria last summer for my wedding and honeymoon and loved it. It was our first real vacation in a long time and was worth every penny! Since then I’ve been moving around so much that I’m just happy to be in one place! Enjoy : )
