Throwback Thursday – Elvis

Throwback Thursday – Elvis

Feeling a little nostalgic for the little old red horse lately.  Elvis is also probably the most photographed horse I’ve ever owned.  A few months after I got him, my beloved childhood horsie best friend colicked and was put down.  I took that as a lesson that there was no such thing as too many pictures, because I only have a small handful of Doodles.

Anyway, here are some of my favorites from all facets of Elvis.  Keep in mind I was not the best helmet wearer during the seven years I owned him.  You can choose to comment on that if you like, but know I wear my helmet religiously now 🙂

    1. Elvis was definitely the era of my crazy saddle pads. My mom made me some funky ones, and a barn mate also made cute ones. Now I skew WAY more huntery, but I still have all the fun Elvis embroidered pads since they are special to me 🙂

  1. I couldn’t agree more that there is no such thing as too many pictures, and often that mentality extends to my blog as well… opps.

    Elvis was super cute!!

  2. Aw I miss Elvis! Does Meredith still have him? I remember when a lot of those pics were taken, and I’m even in one of ’em! ( : (You can see my purple helmet behind you and Elvis jumping, haha. Probably on Missy!)

    1. Meredith sold him to a lady in Chapel Hill who owned him for about 3 years. She wanted to jump more, and decided to retire him from that kind of work so he went back to Meredith. I know they’ve done some maintenance on him and he does beginner lessons and trail rides now as far as I know.

  3. Stumbled across your blog and was reading casually till I saw a pic of Elvis! Followed your Elvis link and realized sure enough it’s him! I know him and board at the same barn; he is doing wonderfully and still very happy and healthy!
