I’m back from Wellington, stomping grounds of the rich and famous pony people, and had a fabulous time. It’s really like submerging yourself in another world where the rules of my former reality do not exist. Some of that is thrilling (getting lunch right next to Reed Kessler and seeing George Morris at the grocery store!) and some of that is kind of stressful and exhausting (feeling like the lowly TX pudgy amateur local shower among the world’s elite equestrians)….
Simon’s 7th birthday is today! I’m going to skip catch riding today, and instead just spend some quality time with him grooming and grazing at the barn. There may even be a birthday hat and cupcakes involved… we’ll see! To celebrate my big beautiful boy, I am sharing my 7 favorite pictures of him. My dad was visiting this weekend, so while I didn’t spend much time at the barn riding (although he did come meet Simon) there was one very horsey activity we went to – Rodeo Austin. Every March, hipsters get excited for South by Southwest and horse loving Austinites get excited for Rodeo Austin. My experience with rodeo in North Carolina is slim. Work is pretty crazy right now. Not bad crazy, but more like “I’ve been in meetings for five hours and I still have 3 items that need to be done by EOD” kind of week. Haven’t been out to the barn much, but am planning on going tonight. I’m also in the middle of my 1st week of doing the South Beach diet, which is essentially kicking all carbs and sugars. Though I’m not a subscriber to Sidelines (I might get a subscription though!), I love their Social Media presence, blogs and Facebook page. Today is my birthday! Being that I am a Christmas baby, usually we are traveling or Christmas shopping or doing something along those lines on my birthday. This year we stayed in town for the holidays, so that meant I got to do whatever I wanted… which turned out being totally awesome. After birthday breakfast tacos, we headed to the Austin Zoo.
