The WEF Pony Parade

Giveaway Results!

Before I get to our pretty little ponies – the results to the giveaway!  For everyone that entered, I gave them a number and then randomized them using randomizer.org and the winner is… Hillary from Equestrian at Hart!  I’ll catch up with you to speak design, but for now… on to ponies!

I have a problem with miniature things. I love anything that is smaller than its full size counter part. This includes but is not limited to small plastic animals, tiny food, doll houses and… Ponies.

I love ponies. They’re like little angry stallions that are never going to grow up. Maybe that’s why when I should have been heading to the international ring to meet my friend and watch the 1.5 meter class instead I got really distracted by all the pretty ponies.

Love how fat they are. How they flick their little hooves out with each stride and their angry ears filled with ear poms.

I never rode a true pony (just a hony) as a kid, so maybe that’s why I adore them? Maybe it’s because I haven’t experienced first hand how naughty and frustrating they are.

Of maybe because its they’re so. damn. precious.

When I’m rich and famous one day, I want to have a pony retirement farm where I can watch these fat grumpy bastards run around my fields. After packing around these little kids for years, I think they will have deserved it!

  1. I have a love hate relationship with those fat little cute bastards! They are so stinking cute and fuzzy! But they have attitude. I walked a pony in a local Christmas parade. . .or rather Pancake the pony drug me down the street! I should have known something was up when I went to catch her and she got the other little ponies racing around the little pasture like angry bees. They really have no concept of how little they are.
    Cute post 🙂

  2. Dude. You NEED to come meet Red. He is just as you described – short, fat, and grumpy, but oh-so-cute. I mean, who can resist those little pony ears? And that Kyooot little nose? It’s not possible, and he knows it.

  3. Okay, I love the photos… but I don’t love ponies. I’m… uh… “top-heavy” and I’ve always felt uncomfortable and unbalanced on them. And, actually, I’ve fallen off two of them. One was a five-year-old girl’s pony who I was supposed to be taking over a crossrail. Instead, I ate dirt. The second was the Connemara who sent me to the hospital. A third pony kicked me in the thigh as a child and left a giant knot.

Oh! And a friend was bitten by a pony at our first barn and her high school teacher thought her parents were abusing her, which, I mean, go teacher, but she had to see the counselor for a while and talk to a lot of officials and all that.

  4. I always wished I was small enough to ride a pony! I love welsh ponies and cobs especially. Sadly even as a 10 year old when I first started riding I was crazy tall and felt silly on anything under 15 hands.

  5. This post cracked me up! I love ponies!! I never rode one growing up, but got to ride them all the time in college and grew to love them. I’m pretty short/petite, so I can ride the little ones! ( :

  6. YES! I have been waiting for these. I also never got the chance to ride/show ponies and I think that’s part of the reason I love them too. Thanks for all the gorgeous photos!

  7. Great pictures! I’ve ridden a lot of ponies but I like the bigger warmbloods better, I prefer the bigger stride and more business attitude. The ponies I rode were used in lessons and they would use their stunts to get out of work. Very smart animals and great teachers to those who listen.

  8. I groomed one of the top smalls in North America one year. Loved him. He was a jack a$$ to the kids though. We made quite the picture, me all of 6 feet and little him. I had to lunge him in a bridle so he wouldn’t take off on me and the kids had to ride him in a double twisted wire!

    1. Haha, oh fun! I would love to groom a snotty little pony… actually I’m not sure if I would love that, but it would be fun for a while.

  9. Ponies are all like characters from the movie Grumpy Old Men… a bunch of smart asses who don’t like you and don’t particularly like each other. Rode LOTS of ponies as a kid, teenager and young adult (just like L. Williams, I’m small) and they are all WAY too smart for their (or your) own good 🙂 That being said… I still love them and love all your pics!

  10. I absolutely LOVE ponies. Love their cuteness, love their personalities. Give me a cute grumpy pony to ride and I’m in seventh heaven.
I wish I was shorter so I could ride more of them. Luckily I’m naturally slim so I can usually get away with it. If I ever start packing on the weight I would just nothing but cabbage soup just so I could still ride ponies…

  11. OMG, yes! Esp paired with a little girl in braids with those fat cute colorful ribbons in them 🙂

Just found your blog! Looking forward to reading more.

  12. I love ponies too! When I was doing the jumper circuit back in PR, my trainer let me exercise the school ponies in exchange for lessons. I LOVED those bratty, bratty ponies! The naughtier, the more fun they were! It’s especially awesome when they decide they like you too. 🙂

  13. Congrats Hillary!!!

I love ponies too!!! I can’t wait to go pony shopping (in the bargain bin- aka a young one that needs miles cause we can’t afford an expensive one so I will have to do the riding for a bit) for my daughter!!!

There are great pictures!!! You have a great talent!
