Saddle Woes & Waits

Saddle Woes & Waits

One of my “30 before I’m 30” items is getting a new saddle, but it wasn’t just because I like pretty new tack.  The fit on Simon’s saddle has gone from not ideal to pretty much abysmal. With his bulking up over the summer, the tree width is officially too narrow for his shoulders.  That’s causing the back to rock and move even more than previously.  We went from occasional rocking, to having his hair under the back panels being…

How I Got My Bridle

How I Got My Bridle

Once upon a time, I lived in NC and boarded at a legit “A” barn for the first time in my life.  The trainer there at the time was from New Jersey and grew up riding the 3’6″ big eq and all things legit hunter/jumper.  She was the real deal. In contrast, I had my from-the-newspaper QH without lead changes and didn’t really know what being in a “program” meant.  She didn’t have a problem with those things as I…

The Great NC Christmas Adventure

The Great NC Christmas Adventure

As you may have noticed, I’ve been out of town for about a week.  We packed my car full of Christmas presents, three dogs, and barely fit ourselves on the 2400 mile round trip from Texas to North Carolina.  We drove straight through on the way there (20.5 hours) which was pretty miserable.  After visiting family and friends in North Carolina for the week, we started the drive back and stopped in Jackson, MS to stay with Tim’s family for…

Eq Blogger Secret Santa Gift!

Eq Blogger Secret Santa Gift!

I had to do two posts today, becuase I got my Equestrian Blogger Gift Exchange secret santa gift!  Yippieee!! Thank you soooo much to Adventures with Shyloh for these amazing gifts! They arrived all wrapped and purdiful, but like the present hungry christmas-monger I am, I ripped them all open with glee before remembering to take a picture.  You can view the aftermath first. She was very accommodating of my snooty hunter requests 🙂  I now have a beautiful wood…

Case of the Holiday Wants

Case of the Holiday Wants

Is there anyone who doesn’t have a wish list this time of year? If you’re one of those people who are like “I don’t need anything because I have the love and support of my family and Jesus” then that’s great… but I doubt you’re a horse person. Us horse people always need want shit. It’s a problem. This time of year is an especially hard time for me and my case of “the wanties” because my Birthday and Christmas…

Ermahgerd Outfits

Ermahgerd Outfits

My brain is almost 100% on the year end show, and because you guys are my captive readers I’m going to drag you down the crazy train with me. Most of my showing has been exclusively at local one day shows and schooling shows, and last year’s CTHJA year end show was my first “away from home” weekend show where I actually sat on my horse and rode him around a ring.  Success! This year the year end show is…

Sore No More Product Reviews

Sore No More Product Reviews

What seems like forever ago, I won a great contest sponsored by Hillary at Equestrian at Hart. The prize was trial sizes of three Sore No More products – “The Sauce”, gelotion liniment, and shampoo. Life has been a wee bit crazy for me lately and it took a lot longer than I meant for it for me to use these products enough for me to bring you a real review, but today I’ll be telling my experience with “The…

Horze Club Jacket Reviews

Horze Club Jacket Reviews

Remember that time in the not so distant past when I gave away a super cool winter equestrian jacket from Horze? Yeah? Well, good! The winners have all received their jackets, and the verdict is in… it’s a good coat!  Here’s what our three winners had to say about this versatile jacket. Crystal, a non-blogger, admitted the jacket was much nicer in person that she expected it to be.  She thought it was going to be a fall weight jacket,…
