The 12 Days of Stressmas

The 12 Days of Stressmas

For the 12 days of Christmas, my Nerd Horse gave to me…

12 Christmas Pug Vines,

11 prose revisions,

10 Tinder creepers,

9 festive light shows,

8 Snapchat filters,

7 MFA apps,

6 cocktail parties,

5 GLASSES OF WINE!

4 work dramas,

3 wild dogs,

2 Thoroughbreds,

and a festive Quail Manor house!

Though we are not quite up on Christmas yet, I am in my last sprint of productivity for the year. I leave on Thursday afternoon to visit my family in North Carolina for Christmas before I skip to the other coast to meet friends for New Years in California. It’s going to be an awesome time, but I have a lot to finish before I go. So for now I’m signing off on this blog for 2016. I’ll greet you again next year with some photos and stories from my future adventures.

In the meantime, I hope everyone has a happy holiday full of ponies and puppies and prosecco and all the things that you love. One of the things I love is my blog readers, and I really appreciate y’all sticking with me in the past year of ups and downs. Currently I’m pretty optimistic about 2017, and hoping to share mostly ups with y’all next year!

  1. Merry Christmas! I’m a reader from Australia, love your blog. Enjoy the holidays and looking forward to hearing from you next year!

  2. Enjoy the end of the year! Hope you have a wonderful trip. We stayed at Spin and Margie’s Desert Hide out this summer, it was the most perfect place to stay close to Joshua Tree – Sigh. I think I’m jealous now. Or maybe just happy for you and thankful to have been there.
Thank you for reminding me of some good time’s in 2016 and may 2017 be a peaceful and cozy year.

  3. Your house looks so Christmasey and pretty! Merry Christmas and have fun in Cali. It’s raining today but historically the weather is beautiful around New Years (hence the reason the former Midwesterners who settled in the Pasadena area started having the Rose Parade about 100 years ago–they were trying to show off their beautiful new climate to the folks back home).

  4. Hey Lauren, I have never commented but felt pulled to today. I am not sure how I found your blog (I know absolutely nothing about horses), but I do know great writing, appreciate dry humor, and have walked through some grief. And I just wanted to tell you that your blog is lovely and it’s a pleasure journeying along with you. Hope your travels were smooth and that you ushered the new year in with some people who make you happy. Hoping that 2017 is nothing but kind to you.
    Kelly
