Another Year with my Horse Husband

Another Year with my Horse Husband

Today I celebrate another year spent with my ‘horse husband’.  It’s four years of marriage for us (and almost 9 total) and we’ll celebrate our “fruit and flowers” anniversary this year. My husband is turning into a pro at funny anniversary gifts.  For the 2nd “Cotton” anniversary he got me a cotton t-shirt that said “It’s my 2nd anniversary and all I got was this t-shirt”, a cotton candy maker and a cotton saddle pad.  This year for “fruit and…

Travel Tuesday – Budapest

Travel Tuesday – Budapest

When I watched The Grand Budapest Hotel, I was hoping it would be about Budapest since that’s one of my favorite European cities.  Alas, I was disappointed in the subject matter – so this blog post will have to suffice as my stroll back into travel nostalgia. Fun fact, did you know Budapest is actually two different cities separated by a river?  It’s really Buda and Pest. Tim and I went together in 2008 right after Christmas as part of an…

Travel Tuesday – Braunfels

Travel Tuesday – Braunfels

The first stop of our 2008 winter European tour was a bit unusual.  Tim and I flew into Frankfurt, which is a huge European hub of travel.  That’s not important in itself, but we were fortunate enough to have a German friend of ours pick us up at the airport and drive us to his hometown – Braunfels, Germany. Braunfels is a small town of about 11,000 people that’s located northwest of Frankfurt.  Honestly, I was so damn jetlagged I…

Travel Tuesday – New York City

Travel Tuesday – New York City

Once upon a time I used to travel a lot and lug my giant camera everywhere.  Now I am poor with a travel money eating pony.  Ah, the choices we make. Soon I will travel again, but lately I’ve just been missing it.  Combine that with the fact that I don’t often take a look back at the millions of photos I take, and I present to you “Travel Tuesday”. I didn’t actually get to NYC until my early 20’s….

Equestrians at Sea

Equestrians at Sea

I spent the past three days doing some of this. A lot of this. And overall relaxing and hanging out with my family. It was a good, very needed break.  Also, my brain is on vacation mode a little bit still, which would explain the overall lack of content for this post.  I sat down on the couch when I got home last night to write blog material, but instead it pretty much came out more like “blog good horse…

My Love / Hate Relationship With Art

My Love / Hate Relationship With Art

In my Happy Things in my home post, I showed a picture of my favorite piece of artwork ever – the scratch board lion.  A lot of you left nice comments about my lion and mentioned how I should do art again.  I probably should do more art, but I very much have a love/hate relationship with art these days. Growing up, art was my passion long before I became interested in creative writing.  For whatever reason, I was slightly…

Blog Hop – What’s In Your Name?

Blog Hop – What’s In Your Name?

This is a particularly good topic for me, because unlike many of you my blog (though horsey related) is not named after my horse or  the equestrian world in general.  So for this week’s blog hop by Viva Carlos we have… What is the story behind your blogname/url? I moved to Texas in spring of 2010.  Though I’m originally from North Carolina, we had lived for the previous almost two years in Massachusetts and the experience was not awesome.   We…

Christmas Card Exchange

Christmas Card Exchange

I’ve been doing Christmas cards of my equine family for years. Horses in Santa hats are always cute, but even if there are no Santa hats involved I like to have at least one nice photo and a milestone to celebrate the furry loved ones in my life that year.   This year is no different, and I’d like to share my Christmas card tradition with you readers! If you’d like to receive a holiday card from yours truly, please…
