One Week Post Injections Meh Fest

One Week Post Injections Meh Fest

Confounding horse continues to be confounding… but then again what else is new?  Let me dive into some more detail. Simon finished his 7 day rest and 2g bute/day on Friday.  On Saturday morning, I headed out to the barn to give him a light walk/trot hack and see how he is.  Now I realize he will still have some bute in his system at that point, so I expected him to feel amazing. Overall, he did.  Huge shoulder swing….

Attack of the Winged Insects

Attack of the Winged Insects

I live in a very old house.  When I say old, I’m speaking more like Eddie Izzard’s opinion on American history than old old.  Our house is no 1800’s New England  house (lived in one of those too), but it was built in the 1930’s and it wasn’t built all that well.  More sharecropper’s shack than chic bungalow. Not only is our shoddy cute house old, but it’s also the most secure part of our wealth.  Why is that important?  Because…

Throwback Thursday – Elvis

Throwback Thursday – Elvis

Feeling a little nostalgic for the little old red horse lately.  Elvis is also probably the most photographed horse I’ve ever owned.  A few months after I got him, my beloved childhood horsie best friend colicked and was put down.  I took that as a lesson that there was no such thing as too many pictures, because I only have a small handful of Doodles. Anyway, here are some of my favorites from all facets of Elvis.  Keep in mind…

Stalker Blog Hop

Stalker Blog Hop

I waffled about joining this blog hop, because the reality is I’d be happy to meet so many of you bloggers out there!  Seriously… we enjoy writing and the internet and our horses, those are three giant common interests right there so basically we’re sure to be best friends, right? So I decided to put my own spin on things and tell you who I do know and some fun “stalker” experiences I have had through blogging. As many of you…

Positivity Hat

Positivity Hat

Took time this weekend to repeat a mantra to myself – pout less!  With more reflecting at the vet’s diagnosis, it wasn’t too hard to do.  At this moment, I’ll be able to ride my horse in a week… which is no big thang.  For now, I’ll just take it one week at a time. After some family time with my mother in law Saturday (and a massive cleaning spree to get ready for her visit), I was a pretty…

Fishing Expedition

Fishing Expedition

Having a show horse is like 100 hobbies in one.  One of them?  Fishing.  Not for actual fish of course, but for a lameness diagnosis… because when your horse is one hot mess like mine there isn’t always a clear answer. We headed to the vet on Friday afternoon with the goal of getting an ultrasound to diagnosis a suspensory and some x-rays to see if he has kissing spines or not.  I took away a lot more information than…

Unpopular Blog Hop

Unpopular Blog Hop

This title is funny to me.  Instead of participating in an unpopular blog hop, I’m participating in a blog hop about unpopular opinions.  This week L. Williams‘ asks: What is 1 unpopular horsey opinion you have? It seems like I have all kinds of unpopular opinions, but the topical one for me right now is how I don’t think it’s wrong to use maintenance to keep a young horse with lameness going.  That’s kind of a weird statement, but let…

What We Put on the Internet

What We Put on the Internet

I really thought about not posting any until I had more news, but this blog is really important to me.  I’ve had it pre-Simon and I will have it post-Simon (which is hopefully in like 20 years).  So, here’s another not exactly uplifting post. During my mega-pouting session last week, I did a lot of pondering on the subject of what I put on the internet. If I were to critique my blog, I would think that I’m a bit…
