Simon’s Showing Progression

Simon’s Showing Progression

Sometimes when you’re in the middle of a tough journey with your horse, it’s hard to see the big picture. Even though I don’t feel stuck at all right now with Simon (rather, I feel pretty flippin’ fantastic but that makes for boring content) I still thought it might be a good time to step back and look through the archives.

Below I’ve chosen one photo from every show since I got him. They start in October 2012 and go through June 2015. We started showing in the 2’0″ Beginner Hunters, and most recently in the 2’6″ – 2’9″ Intro Jumpers.

I’m sure a lot of people could have progressed faster or better, but I’m really proud.

In July I will have owned Simon for 3 years. This horse is and continues to be the thing I’m most proud of in life! If you haven’t taken the time to look back and compare photos recently, I highly recommend it 🙂

  1. great post – you guys have done so much together – and so well! i love looking back at pics like these to remember where we came from, and maintain an events page for exactly this reason.

  2. Most definitely, its not about what other people are doing, every journey is different. You’ve come a long way, and literally and figuratively had several hurdles to leap. Great job! You have every reason to be proud!

  3. Holy shit, Lauren! Your form and Simon’s form look completely different. He’s so much more elastic and using his neck 100x more! And you — dang girl. Your release, upper body and lower leg have all gotten so much better and stronger.

CONGRATULATIONS! You should be so incredibly proud. 😀

  4. You should be damn proud girl!! We all have setbacks and periods where we feel in a rut. The important thing is working through and coming out the other side. 🙂 Wow you guys have turned into a badass jumping pair!

  5. What a great progression. You two look great!!! It looks like you could have raised the jump a few holes in that last pictures. Adorable!

  6. Incredible! I’ve been riding for 11 years now and I always wonder what my life would be like if I would have been in full training my whole life. I just have to remind myself it is the journey and not the destination!
