February San Antonio Charity – Sunday

February San Antonio Charity – Sunday

On day two of the horse show, Simon and I were kind of over it. It’s not that I didn’t wake up excited and ready to horse show (and maybe a little bit hungover… turns out day drinking isn’t really my style)… I did! However, when the hunter ring is dragging and a nap feels like a super solid idea, it can be hard to motivate one’s self. By the time we got to my first class, the 2’6″ Equitation, I…

February San Antonio Charity – Saturday

February San Antonio Charity – Saturday

On Friday night when we were schooling, I trotted around the jumps in the hunter ring and told my trainer how small everything looked. They were all set to around 2′, which used to be my comfort level but now looks like speed bumps. Don’t think I’m knocking all the 2′ hunter riders aren’t there who think schooling that height at the show is scary. I’ve been there. I know your feels, but now it looks itty bitty. After we cruised down…

All the Feels

All the Feels

This weekend I took my two dogs and a cooler full of bubbly & cheese to meet Simon and my barn family in San Antonio for a schooling show. I had made the executive decision months ago to focus on the hunters, so this was to be our first legitimate show back in that ring. I wasn’t sure what to expect. Part of me felt like we’d win everything, and part of me thought it’d be a huge failure and…

Fugly Before Flawless

Fugly Before Flawless

My name is Lauren and I can’t word today. Tomorrow isn’t looking good either, so let’s look at pictures of Simon. As I may have mentioned, Simon and I will be returning to the hunter ring for (at least) the first show of the year…which is in about three weeks. I doubt this move will shock the equestrian world, since it’s not like we were exactly campaigning for Rio, but right now I am enjoying work on polish and relaxation….

Luxury Saddle Shopping

Luxury Saddle Shopping

When I first decided to treat myself to a new saddle, I was pretty excited. What a blessing it is to be in a place where I can afford to buy what I want and peruse a selection of high end saddles. How lucky was I? Apparently, not as lucky as I thought. Call me crazy, but I feel like if I’m prepared to spend thousands of dollars on an item for my hobby, the shopping experience should be nothing short of…

TSSA Year End Show

TSSA Year End Show

As I mentioned in my Simon haiku updates, I decided to take Simon to a last minute one day schooling show at our local show facility. Normally in November we trek up to Waco for the big year end show with our local show circuit, but this year that seemed like a huge expense to undertake when I didn’t feel prepared. Also if I’m being honest, I haven’t felt very much into the jumpers lately. I think it’s due to…

Fancy Saddle Shopping – CWD

Fancy Saddle Shopping – CWD

As I mentioned last week, I’m in the market for a new saddle. One of my friends told me that she was going to live vicariously through my saddle shopping, which made me figure that it would be a decent process to blog about. Plus, I can’t write depressing broody content everyday… right? The first company I had come out to fit me and Simon was CWD. People seem to either love or hate the company, but I’m a big…

An Italian Problem

An Italian Problem

Guys, I don’t like my saddle. Though it fits Simon relatively well, I’ve never taken to my Prestige Roma Jump saddle. On the aesthetic side, I am not a huge fan of the leather. Even after having it for a year and a half, the leather still is just okay at best. Granted, I’m not the world’s best cleaner/oiler but this thing remains slick and stiff. It doesn’t like to soak conditioner in despite my best efforts and it scratches super…
