Selfie Sunday – BT Update

Selfie Sunday – BT Update

We’re now four days past the incident with Eliot and BT, and both BT, Tim and I are doing a lot better. Physically, her eye is vastly improved but we’ve come to understand that it will never be the same.  The swelling is down from OMG super creepy to er… her eye looks weird.  The redness in the “white part” is also a lot better, but the position of the colored part of her eye stays off center.  It’s more…

Derailed

Derailed

Eliot, my heart dog of heart dogs, just attacked BT, our sweet old rescued Boston.  I say just, but this happened last night as I will be posting this the morning after.  I’m completely heartbroken. Eliot has always had aggressive tendencies, but I manage him closely and thought things were getting better.  Apparently not.  We were feeding lots of chew bones and special treats tonight because Pascale the puppy has to stay calm after her spay.  Eliot had been giving…

Selfie Sunday – Pascale the Puppy Update

Selfie Sunday – Pascale the Puppy Update

Slight diversion from the usual news here… see, when I first started this blog back in 2010 (coincidentally when we moved to Austin) I wrote about whatever I felt like.  I don’t regret taking an all horse direction last year and have really enjoyed focusing on Simon, but there times like today when I had some crappy rides this weekend and don’t really feel like going on and on about my horse.  For those days, I’m going to experiment with…

I don’t know the full story, but someone dropped an approx eight-week-old female lab mix puppy at our barn this week.  When my trainer put the pictures of her on Facebook, I kind of melted. Okay, I seriously melted. I also shamelessly…

Not So Quick Decision

Not So Quick Decision

I interrupt your horsey news for a post about foster dogs, because that’s where my head is right now. We have fostered for Springer Rescue for several years, although not recently since Tim is no longer working from home full time and my bratty spoiled spaniel, Eliot, doesn’t really play well with others. On Friday though, we were contacted again for a special case dog. An older female in really rough shape, that we were asked to foster since we…

A Benefit of Working at SmartPak – Famous Eliot!

A Benefit of Working at SmartPak – Famous Eliot!

Eventually I’ll actually write up a real post about my work experience at SmartPak, but a former co-worker sent this to me today on Facebook and I was just tickled. That’s my pup, Eliot! You can view the full email blast by clicking here.  It’s been a rather interesting/stressful week, so this made me smile for sure. Eliot is also the cover puppy for one of the SmartPak canine Supplements, SmartCanine™ Healthy Weight. If any of y’all are looking for…

My Favorite Christmas Ornaments

My Favorite Christmas Ornaments

Being the shamateur photographer that I am, my mantra is the deeper the depth of field… the nicer the photograph 🙂  So I pulled out my 1.8 lens and took some photos of some of my favorite ornaments on the Christmas tree to share with you today. If you look back through any of the posts about my dog, you’ve no doubt seen my Springer Spaniel, Eliot.  He’s my baby, and springers in general are such a beautiful breed –…
