I Got to Touch My Pony!

I Got to Touch My Pony!

The show got rained out for this weekend, just like every other horse show I had planned on going to this spring. In times like this, it’s important for me to remember that before I loved horse showing… I loved horses. So last night I trekked out to the barn to touch my pony. First, we recreated the infamous Artax scene from A Never Ending Story. Luckily, Simon is more of a fighter than Artax was. Then I gave him an…

OTTB Spotlight – Loki

OTTB Spotlight – Loki

Today’s OTTB Spotlight has one of my favorite blog names since it’s both her horse’s name and good advice for life … Keep it Low Key! She’s moving right now, and anyone who’s made a major move knows how stressful that can be with a horse. Hopefully this spotlight on her awesome OTTB, Loki, will bring a smile to her face. What is his registered name? Too Many Whyz (jockey club) Keep It Low Key (USEA) Barn name: Loki Lineage? You…

Pet Peeves at the Barn

Pet Peeves at the Barn

It’s raining so much. So. much. I’m doing my best not to complain about the rain, but shit happens. What’s not happening is any time at the barn or riding Simon. I was lucky to sneak in a really nice hack on Sunday, but that’s the last time I’ve touched my beloved beasty. Besides coloring, I’m trying to think of things to blog about. Therefore let this post today stand in the “something to write about” category instead of the “wow…

Adult Coloring Books

Adult Coloring Books

This post will only further convince you that I am really a twelve year old girl instead of a thirty year old professional. A few months ago, one of my co-workers who enjoys art as a hobby mentioned a fairly new phenomenon she was enjoying called adult coloring. No, these are not coloring books with “Mature” content (although a quick google search will let you know that these exist as well), but instead artists who are creating incredibly detailed line…

So You Want to Blog? – Part V: Traffic

So You Want to Blog? – Part V: Traffic

This will be my last post of the little intro blogging series. I don’t feel like there’s much more to talk about, and plus no one actually came down from the heavens and gave me the blogging goddess crown… still waiting for that one. 😉 I could keep this post super short, because the best way to get traffic to your blog is very simple. Write good content that people want to read. I’m dead serious. You can spend all the advertising…

Product Review – Eco Vet Fly Spray

Product Review – Eco Vet Fly Spray

A few months ago, a representative from Eco Vet contacted me and asked if I would be interested in reviewing their new fly spray. Of course, flies are the bane of any horse owner’s existence so I was pretty happy to take them on on their request! Wait a few months for flies to really start to get bad here… and we have today’s review. First, here’s a little bit about what makes this fly spray unique from the folks at…

About that forward thing…

About that forward thing…

Okay, so maybe that’s still a work in progress. My lesson on Tuesday went quite well overall. I started my course with a decent forward pace and none of the jumps (2’3″ – 2’6″) looked intimidating to me at all. We cantered up to a vertical and I didn’t see a spot, so naturally I pulled for the add and my horse was like “Trot?” and it was kinda fugly. Well, that wasn’t amazing but we recovered fine and no harm…

Forward (and Straight)

Forward (and Straight)

My ego with riding continues to be bruised, but I’m not a quitter. I’m officially doing the schooling show next weekend instead of the originally planned two day show this weekend. Bonus points for saving a lot of money? That’s how I’m pitching it to myself. I also got bumped from the jumper lesson (hopefully temporarily) this weekend, since the more experienced girls needed to prep over bigger fences for the show this weekend. I mean even if I’ve been riding…
