BTreatz – Fancy Italian

BTreatz – Fancy Italian

Once upon a time, BT participated in my wedding. My mom hand made her a beautiful doggie dress with very expensive materials and hand sewn crystals. This dress has mostly been sitting in a box since that day, but I decided to bust it out for some fancy Italian pasta I made for me & BT. Like myself, BT had a bit of a hard time squeezing into that dress five years later. I blame the cake donuts.

Eliot Looking Fabulous

Eliot Looking Fabulous

Before all the dog sadness this weekend, I was sent one of the most magical YouTube videos I’ve ever seen. Please pause your life for two minutes and watch this amazing comedy clip, which had me giggling out of control at my desk. After speaking with said friend about how funny we found this, she said that she wished I had a dog wig for BT. I didn’t have a dog wig, but I do have real wigs… BT didn’t…

The Tao of Widowhood

The Tao of Widowhood

Sometimes when I am doing something innocuous like running an errand or cleaning my house, a simplistic mantra comes to me as easy as breathing does. My husband is dead. I found him. He is not coming back. This is my life now. The moments when I repeat this to myself are never emotional, teary ones. It’s as if my brain is reminding itself of this predicament. BTreatz – Chicken Fajita Taco

BTreatz – Chicken Fajita Taco

Contrary to what I’ve been writing lately, I don’t mean for this blog to turn into your daily dose of depression. After spending most of Saturday mourning the inevitable end of my beloved BT, I spent some time thinking about how to celebrate her last weeks with me. In life, BT loved two things the most – Tim and food. I fell somewhere on this list after naps, sunshine, Pascale, large stuffed toys and more naps. I tell you these…

Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome

Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome

I took BT to the vet on Saturday after reading everyone’s suggestions in my last post about her. The receptionist wrote down “Urinary Infection” as the reason for my visit, but when my vet entered the room I spewed out the long list of abnormal behavior I’ve been seeing in her. Strange urinary accidents Stress panting Pacing Unexplained crying Compulsive licking Decreased interest in playing with Pascale No longer interested in toys Unable to focus long enough to chew Doesn’t…

If I Had Words

If I Had Words

If I had words to make a day for you, I’d sing you a morning golden and new. I would make this day last for all time – Give you a night deep in moonshine. – Scott Fitzgerald I wish I could write about how happy Simon was when I rode him the other night. We just walked around mostly, a mix of floppy reins and bending/collection. The little trot we did do felt nice and sound, so I am…

Where do you go?

Where do you go?

A few weeks ago, my raccoon brain listed that I might be thinking about taking a road trip. That was more than a might, because I’m plotting my biennial pilgrimage to North Carolina for Christmas this year. Tim and I made this trip two times together. The whole thing started because my company closes between Christmas and New Years every year, leaving me with a lot of extra vacation. Since we have family & friends in North Carolina, we figured it…
