Window Shopping

Window Shopping

One of the coping mechanisms I have not been doing is any retail therapy. For two reasons: I already met my retail therapy limit for 2015 I’m going to Europe in a month and am in an aggressive ‘no spending’ zone Neither of these bullet points stops me from wanting pretty things though! Instead of blowing my entire vacation budget on tack and clothing, I decided to do some window shopping. For me, it’s mostly about breeches. I’m down to two…

Death to the Plan

Death to the Plan

All my life, I’ve been a good long term planner. My college degree was a back up plan for a not-likely-to-pay-for-ponies passion, and my eventual career was a back up plan to the back up plan. I like to plan my vacations out with lots of research months in advance. I like to plan big spending items and I like to plan housing projects by quarter. As we all know, horses are a little bit less hard to plan… but…

Bursting With Pride

Bursting With Pride

For reasons outside the barn, this has been the toughest week of my life. I needed a good show, and my nerd horse gave me his whole heart on Saturday. I am so proud. I felt more confident going into this show than I did last year for my semi-disasterous 2’6″-2’9″ debut. Pace is beginning to be less of a mystery to me, and after 20 years of riding “sit up and go forward” is starting to become more than…

Change of Perspective

Change of Perspective

I’ve been experiencing a bit of a shift in my perspective as of late. It started intentionally and coming from myself. Oh Baby, Oh Baby

Oh Baby, Oh Baby

I’ve had babies on the brain lately, but not like you may be thinking. No, I don’t want a baby horse. I’m thinking about human babies, but I don’t really want one of those either. In my personal life, my world has been a bit baby saturated as many women in their 30’s experience. Of course my Facebook feed is covered in baby photos vs college photos now, but closer to home my best friend had a daughter last fall…

Equestrian Book Review – Making the Running

Equestrian Book Review – Making the Running

It’s been a while since I’ve done a book review, but lately I’ve been asked to read some equestrian novels from some folks and then review. Truth be told, I love equestrian lit. It doesn’t have to be high literature, but if it has horses and a decent plot… I’m sold. So that being said, today’s book was sent to me to review but the opinions are quite my own. Honestly, I’m not a romance book fan so when I read…

Determination Face

Determination Face

I did something crazy yesterday. I entered a show. I entered a show that is unlikely to be rained out. I entered a show that is unlikely to be rained out for a max 2’9″ jumper division. I have four days… that should be enough time right? I’ve done this before. Or bigger (at home). So I can do it again. Right? Right?!?
