The WEF Pony Parade

The WEF Pony Parade

Giveaway Results! Before I get to our pretty little ponies – the results to the giveaway!  For everyone that entered, I gave them a number and then randomized them using randomizer.org and the winner is… Hillary from Equestrian at Hart!  I’ll catch up with you to speak design, but for now… on to ponies! I have a problem with miniature things. I love anything that is smaller than its full size counter part. This includes but is not limited to…

Welly World!

Welly World!

I’m back from Wellington, stomping grounds of the rich and famous pony people, and had a fabulous time. It’s really like submerging yourself in another world where the rules of my former reality do not exist. Some of that is thrilling (getting lunch right next to Reed Kessler and seeing George Morris at the grocery store!) and some of that is kind of stressful and exhausting (feeling like the lowly TX pudgy amateur local shower among the world’s elite equestrians)….

Tall Boot Dilhemma

Tall Boot Dilhemma

I was talking with Kate over at Party Down! the other night about the topic of tall boots has been forbidden in my house. My husband is a patient listener of all things horse, but what I like to call the ‘great tall boot dilemma’ has been going on now for a year and he finally said enough is enough. Which means I am now turning to you, loyal readers, for advice.  You’re welcome. The Problem… Wide Calves, High Expectations,…

Equestrian Blogs You Should Be Reading if You Aren’t

Equestrian Blogs You Should Be Reading if You Aren’t

Cross promoting in our little equestrian blog community is the theme this week! Viva Carlos and Equestrian at Hart both produced excellent lists of blogs this week, of which I found some new reads that I really like.  Though I’ve only been exclusively equestrian blogging for a short period of time, I’ve been reading and blogging for years.  This list has been a long time coming, and I hope you find some new reads on here! Most Inspirational – Viva…

Rodeo Austin

Rodeo Austin

My dad was visiting this weekend, so while I didn’t spend much time at the barn riding (although he did come meet Simon) there was one very horsey activity we went to – Rodeo Austin.  Every March, hipsters get excited for South by Southwest and horse loving Austinites get excited for Rodeo Austin. My experience with rodeo in North Carolina is slim.  I went to a rodeo at the Raleigh fairgrounds once, and remember it had about 5 barrel racers…

Hug Your Horses, Help them Grow Old

Hug Your Horses, Help them Grow Old

Another crazy day at work, but that’s the norm lately.  While browsing on Facebook on my commute in (only in heavy traffic or a red light of course!), this story on the world’s oldest horse caught my eye. Shayne, a 51 year old Irish Draught/Thoroughbred cross, was put to sleep after he couldn’t get up in late feb. I love this story. It’s not because the horse was really old (because he is), but that he was cared for well…

Tack Whore Tuesday?

Tack Whore Tuesday?

Sometimes when your Tuesday starts off less than stellar at work, you need a little retail therapy. At the tack store. At the tack store with the 60% off tag sale. At the sale rack filled with polo shirts. And you love polo shirts.

Equine Book Review – At Risk

Equine Book Review – At Risk

I’m a big reader. I can read a book while I walk, read a book in traffic, read a book on my phone discretely at my desk… I read a lot of books. It should be no surprise that I ended up as an English major in college where I – now get ready for this shocker – read more books. The down side of being an English major is that you can get really burnt out on reading. After…
