My Job at the Cult – The Huddle

My Job at the Cult – The Huddle

About four years ago, I started a job at what I know just refer to as “the cult.”  You’re probably thinking, how could a job be a cult?  I could write enough on that topic for an entire novel, but for the blog I’ll break it down into chunks. All you need to know starting out is that they hired kids as young as possible (preferred high school graduates over college graduates), paid them less than fair wages and tricked them…

My Time on the Runway

My Time on the Runway

I don’t fly frequently for work, but since I live halfway across the country from my family and I tend to try and go as many places as possible… I travel fairly frequently.  My success rate is pretty high, and besides the delayed flight here or there I haven’t had any major problems since I tried to leave North Carolina in the middle of a snow storm. So I guess I was overdue. All signs pointed to an on-time flight…

Selfie Sunday – Sickie

Selfie Sunday – Sickie

I dropped off my husband early Thursday morning for a bachelor party weekend in North Carolina.  I was happy for him to have a weekend with close friends goofing off and forgetting about responsibilities.  For me, I had several days scheduled of lots of barn time and working on my yard planting spring flowers. What did I get instead?  102 fever on Thursday.  I stayed home from work and slept all day.  By sleeping all day I also slept through feeding…

Selfie Sunday – Be Good to Yourself

Selfie Sunday – Be Good to Yourself

Since this is primarily a horse blog, I tend to keep the topics fairly upbeat and of course… pony related.  In the horse front, I have a lot to be thankful for.  It is such a privilege to be able to lesson, train and show like I am right now.  Even with our challenges, I am so thrilled to have Simon and really enjoy our time together. That doesn’t change the fact that behind the scenes, I’ve been pretty low this…

Good, Bad, Fact

Good, Bad, Fact

Good – Eliot and Pascale are getting along really well lately.  Eliot’s new medication makes him more playful, and I’ve witnessed them wrestling together in the yard on more than one occasion. Bad – Eliot went after BT again last night very aggressively.  He injured her remaining eye, although not very badly and she should be 100% fine (hopefully).  This attack came out of the blue with all the current medication and training we’ve been doing in place. Fact – My husband first…

Blog Hop – What’s In Your Name?

Blog Hop – What’s In Your Name?

This is a particularly good topic for me, because unlike many of you my blog (though horsey related) is not named after my horse or  the equestrian world in general.  So for this week’s blog hop by Viva Carlos we have… What is the story behind your blogname/url? I moved to Texas in spring of 2010.  Though I’m originally from North Carolina, we had lived for the previous almost two years in Massachusetts and the experience was not awesome.   We…

Selfie Sunday – Case of the Mehs

Selfie Sunday – Case of the Mehs

This entire post is full of first world problems.  I have nothing legitimate to complain about, and I realize this.  Compared to some people’s problems, I am oh so lucky at the moment. That being said, I’m going to whine a little bit. While 2014 certainly could be worse, it hasn’t exactly gotten off on the right foot.  Dog drama abounds in my house.  We are almost two weeks post BT’s enucleation and I still haven’t been able to breathe easy…

Christmas Card Exchange

Christmas Card Exchange

I’ve been doing Christmas cards of my equine family for years. Horses in Santa hats are always cute, but even if there are no Santa hats involved I like to have at least one nice photo and a milestone to celebrate the furry loved ones in my life that year.   This year is no different, and I’d like to share my Christmas card tradition with you readers! If you’d like to receive a holiday card from yours truly, please…
