Your Equestrian Fashion Blog Hop
I am super late on the final blog hop from Viva Carlos. At first I didn’t think I had enough shirts to participate, but I kept finding them when I did laundry… so here it is. Better late than never?

I like silly things. From being stuck at a desk 8-9 hours a day, I get a little punchy… especially in the afternoons. During one of these silly afternoons, I discovered Google Translate Sings! It’s pretty amazing. The concept is basically this: Take popular song lyrics Put them into Google Translate between roughly 6 different languages Translate them back to English See what you get! I was trying to figure out how to put an equestrian spin on this, so…
There’s a not-so-secret trick that equine photographers keep in their bag of tricks. It’s striking and classic, and makes people go “oooo” and “ahhhh”. What am I talking about? The “black background” shot. It’s one of the most impressive pictures you can take of your horse, but it’s also one of the easiest. There’s no special lighting or big black backdrops we set up behind the horses… the trick is a barn aisleway or door with the light shining in…
Even though we are heading towards fall in many parts of the country, here in central Texas we’re marching towards “later Summer”. Honestly, it hasn’t been all that hot this year (yay!) but we’re due for some 100 degree days in the near future and I know the heat is not done yet. Now I’m not vain about many things in life, but how my horse looks is one of those things. I want to be able to see my…
I’ve never been a person to have a lot of extra stuff. I find something I like, and then use it until it dies, hence my one bridle. Even my bit collection is pretty small, with about 5 bits total. Two of those are for my old horse, and are too small for Simon. One is western, and one is for my DraftX… so that leaves Simon with his one and only bit. I use a 5″ Myler Comfort (Level…
I’ve been waiting to post this until it was official, but I’m experiencing something brand new in my equestrian adventure… quarantine! For those of you who haven’t heard, equine Vesicular Stomatitis is spreading through central Texas right now. Here’s a little about the disease (from The University of Vermont): Vesicular Stomatitis is classified as a rhabdovirus since it has a bullet-like shape when examined under a microscope. Signs and symptoms very closely resemble those of Hoof and Mouth disease, which…
Just like everyone else, I’ve been lusting after all the pretty show shirts that are becoming super popular. Being really light skinned (I’m essentially Norweigan) and living in the land of 300 days of sunshine, I feel like a sun shirt is a fair purchase. That being said, I’m also broke. I have a $50 cap for how much I’m willing to spend on a riding shirt for schooling purposes only. That knocks out all the major brands that everyone…
Epic DIY post of epicness today. We all know my fascination with bonnets, but I get sticker shock every time I look at one… even the more reasonably priced ones. So I did what any rational horse lover would do, and I asked my mother in law to teach me to crochet. She gave me a tutorial, which you can re-create by going to youtube and watching videos. For my bonnet, I used the single crochet stitch the entire time….
