On the Side of a Mountain

On the Side of a Mountain

Six years ago tomorrow, I got engaged. We traveled a lot when we lived in New England. It was new territory to explore, and everything was so close that six hours in the car could get you somewhere new and exciting. When Tim pitched a weekend getaway in St. Johnsbury, VT my suspicions were aroused. I had desperately wanted to be engaged since we moved to MA a year earlier, but Tim always said that marriage didn’t make sense to him….

Two Years of Pascale

Two Years of Pascale

I missed Pascale’s “gotcha’ date with everything that’s been going on around here, but felt it a necessary break of sadness and stress to celebrate my gangly black panther dog. As a furbaby mother, I shouldn’t pick favorites. I should love all my babies equally and cherish them in their own individual ways. But I don’t. Pascale is my favorite. She is best dog, and I even tell this to Eliot quite frequently. I will always adore Eliot and he’s my favorite…

BT

BT

Tim always loved bully dogs. I think dating me with Eliot made him want a dog that would be “his”, and I of course love all animals and want to have enough pairs for my own ark… so I was always pro Tim getting a dog. The type of dogs he wanted though? Not so much. He wanted a mastiff or Saint Bernard or Pitt Bull… something large with jowls and tons of drool. I have a ton of tolerance…

BTreatz – Bacon Wrapped Filet Mignon

BTreatz – Bacon Wrapped Filet Mignon

This was BT’s favorite meal – the best meal she’s ever had. While the pictures turned out crummy, the experience was amazing. If you have never cooked your dog a nice piece of steak to medium – you won’t regret the time or the money spent.

BTreatz – Chick-fil-A

BTreatz – Chick-fil-A

BT declines the opportunity to discuss any political affiliations with Chick-fil-A. She recognizes that can be a polarized subject, and simply chooses to make the statement; “They make a damn tasty nugget.”

BTreatz – Fancy Italian

BTreatz – Fancy Italian

Once upon a time, BT participated in my wedding. My mom hand made her a beautiful doggie dress with very expensive materials and hand sewn crystals. This dress has mostly been sitting in a box since that day, but I decided to bust it out for some fancy Italian pasta I made for me & BT. Like myself, BT had a bit of a hard time squeezing into that dress five years later. I blame the cake donuts.

Eliot Looking Fabulous

Eliot Looking Fabulous

Before all the dog sadness this weekend, I was sent one of the most magical YouTube videos I’ve ever seen. Please pause your life for two minutes and watch this amazing comedy clip, which had me giggling out of control at my desk. After speaking with said friend about how funny we found this, she said that she wished I had a dog wig for BT. I didn’t have a dog wig, but I do have real wigs… BT didn’t…

BTreatz – Chicken Fajita Taco

BTreatz – Chicken Fajita Taco

Contrary to what I’ve been writing lately, I don’t mean for this blog to turn into your daily dose of depression. After spending most of Saturday mourning the inevitable end of my beloved BT, I spent some time thinking about how to celebrate her last weeks with me. In life, BT loved two things the most – Tim and food. I fell somewhere on this list after naps, sunshine, Pascale, large stuffed toys and more naps. I tell you these…

Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome

Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome

I took BT to the vet on Saturday after reading everyone’s suggestions in my last post about her. The receptionist wrote down “Urinary Infection” as the reason for my visit, but when my vet entered the room I spewed out the long list of abnormal behavior I’ve been seeing in her. Strange urinary accidents Stress panting Pacing Unexplained crying Compulsive licking Decreased interest in playing with Pascale No longer interested in toys Unable to focus long enough to chew Doesn’t…
