Show or No?

Show or No?

Didn’t have a remarkable equestrian weekend. Light hack Saturday in the afternoon heat, and then I attempted to murder my horse pulled mane and tried to clip ears. Lets just say that Simon and I battled a but over ear clipping and no one won – he got his ears clipped but he was so naughty that they look really bad. Sunday I had a lesson but my head wasn’t 100% in the game. Simon is getting quite fit again…

Equestrian Colors Mood Board – Black, Silver and White

Equestrian Colors Mood Board – Black, Silver and White

Time for another edition of the the Barn Colors mood board! This week I am featuring products that include black, silver and/or white. These colors are very classy without being in your face neon (although hey, some horses can pull off the neon!) and can be found in the hunter/jumper, dressage AND eventing circles. As for what color horses look good in these colors, I’d have to say almost all of them! Grays especially look very classy with a black/silver…

To Whom It May Concern

To Whom It May Concern

To whom it may concern regarding the new thing hanging in my stall, I do recall a time in the not so distant past where a wonderful sugary orb was placed in my stall for licking.  At first I was not so sure of this new object.  What does it do?  Why does it smell so good?  How can I possibly secure it to get the tasty out? I was told it was for ‘Christmas’, but I don’t really care…

Green (Hunter) With Envy

Green (Hunter) With Envy

I’m not usually a jealous person in my real life.  I like nice things and big houses, but I don’t usually covet them.  For example, I’m swooning over the Ralph Lauren leather purses with the Baucher bit detail (very much out of my budget right now), but when I see someone carrying around a Ralph Lauren equestrian purse it’s not like I want to jump them.  I don’t that oh so beautiful leather bag against them. With horses though, I…

CTHJA June at Manor Equestrian Center

CTHJA June at Manor Equestrian Center

Our local show circuit is called CenTX, which stands for Central Texas Hunter Jumper Association. Austin is different from what I was used to in Raleigh as far as the show scene goes. In Raleigh, you could take your pick in any given month from a selection of open shows, hunter/jumper schooling shows, and C or A hunter/jumper shows in the surrounding area. In Austin while we are lucky to have a good hunter/jumper scene, the choice is TSSA (classy…

OTTB Spotlight – Rozzy Ridge

OTTB Spotlight – Rozzy Ridge

Not many of us are lucky enough to have a single horse be such a lasting staple in our lives, but Alanna and her fantastic OTTB, Rozzy Ridge, have had many years of partnership together. I love seeing these two together – it puts the warm and fuzzies in me. What is his/her registered name? Rozzy Ridge Lineage?– I’m not a big thoroughbred pedigree person but he is a grandson of Seattle Slew. You can view his entire lineage at…

Usually I try to offer you dear readers something extra when you visit this blog. Some wisdom, a chuckle, insight into my personal struggles… Stuff like that. Other times though, I just want to squeal and hold you captive for a few minutes because we had an amazing group lesson on Sunday and dear hubby came to take pictures! So now you have to look at my sweet boy and then tell me how amaze balls he is, because I’m…

Equestrian Colors Mood Board – Burgundy and Grey

Equestrian Colors Mood Board – Burgundy and Grey

If you board or train at a decent sized barn, chances are they have official barn colors… or even if you don’t, chances are you have colors for your horse! I have always been a big ‘barn colors’ kind of person. Elvis and I were red white and blue for a while, then navy and white before I adopted Freedom Run‘s colors of Navy, Burgundy and Silver. At my new barn, the colors are burgundy and gray and it seems…
